Max's Obituary

Max Springsteen, 87, of Dowagiac, passed away, Saturday, December 8, 2018, at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Thursday, December 13, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., with Pastor Stacey Wilder officiating. Burial will follow at South Wayne Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dowagiac Fitch Camp. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.clarkch.com. Max was born on January 18, 1931 to John C. and Bertha Springsteen in Dowagiac. During his younger years, he was raised by the Barney family who cared for Max as one of their own. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. On October 15, 1955 he married the love of his life, Anne Ragazinsky in Dowagiac. Max was a truck driver most of his life driving for Hook Behnke and Nates Beverage in Dowagiac before retiring. After retirement, he went on to work at, what is now known as Family Fare. In his younger years he enjoyed Bowling, golfing and hunting. Max was always known as being very festive, he enjoyed family get-togethers celebrating birthdays and his favorite holiday was Christmas. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Max is survived by his nephews & niece, Mark (Patti) Cobb of Las Cruces, NM, Clark (Kathy) Cobb of Dowagiac, Vicky Cobb-James of Dowagiac; great-nieces & nephews, Tim (Dawn) Stelmasiak, Curt Stelmasiak, Mike Soja, Leah Cobb, Ashley (Mike) Briney, Aaron Cobb, Brittnay Cobb; and great-great nieces & nephew, Maxwell Stelmasiak, Lillian Cobb & Natalie Green; siblings, Jackie Hotrum, Jan Northrop and Jerry Springsteen. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anne; and siblings, Joyce, John , and Jim Springsteen.
