Ernestine Cersey

Ernestine Cersey, 70, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren by her side. A celebration of life service will be held at noon on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Grace Apostolic Church, 47377 M-51, Decatur with Pastor Jack N. Midkiff officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service from 11-12 also at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Apostolic Church. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.newellchapel.com. Ernestine was born on October 5, 1947, to Phillip and Tessie (Cranfill) Pittaway in Mountain Home, AR. Ernestine worked as a Certified Nurses Assistant for over 30 years in both Kansas and Michigan. Prior to her career as a CNA, her favorite job was being a Security Guard in FL. She was a member of Grace Apostolic Church in Decatur. Ernestine loved her dog, Bambi, painting, ice cream and tending flowers with her green thumb. Most of all, she cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ernestine is survived by her children, Brenda Bayless; Lonetta (John) Schonbok and Angela (Kenneth) Filloon; grandchildren, Ashleigh Hutchison, Meagan Luckey, Bryana Burns, Rayme Belden, Emily Belden, Joseph (Elizabeth) Bain, Honesty (Jesse) Anderson, Destiny Bain, Chelsea Filloon, Keilani Filloon, and Angelina Filloon; great-grandchildren, Nova, Styles, Jayden, Micah and Cooper; brother, Jack (Joye) Pittaway; many nieces and nephews and her beloved dog and best-friend, Bambi. She was welcomed into Heavan by her parents, Phillip and Tessie Pittaway; husband, Thomas Cersey; her children’s step-father, Melvin Singletary; children, Phillip Roberts and Lonnie Morrow and brother, Claude Studdard.
