Joseph's Obituary

Joseph Miller Jr., 89, of Decatur passed away at his home on Thursday, January 19, 2017. Mass of Christion Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church of Decatur at 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 23, 2017 with Father Robert F. Creagan officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Decatur. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Newell Chapel in Decatur with a rosary beginning at 4:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Joseph was born in Chicago, IL on February 28, 1927 to Joseph and Theresa (Tavashati) Miller. He served our country in the United States Army during WWII.  On September 9, 1950, he married Carol Ann Schryer in Dowagiac, Michigan. Joseph served the Decatur community as Township Supervisor for over 40 years and also worked for Michigan Power (AEP) as a lineman and also in sales. He was chairman of the Hamilton & Decatur Fire Department, on the Road Commission, a member of the American Legion, Friends to the Library, a Volunteer Fireman, and loved Notre Dame and the New York Yankees. He is survived by two sons Joseph Ray Miller and Christian W. Miller both of Decatur; two daughters, Toni E. (Joseph) Paholski of Lakeland FL and Nicole A. Miller of Kalamazoo; five grandchildren and one brother Bob (Claire) Miller of Decatur.
