Carrie Jane Shumway

Carrie J. Shumway, 37, of Decatur, MI passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 at her home. A Christian Burial will take place Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Hamilton Township Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Gathering and meal will take place immediately following services at the cemetery at the Decatur VFW, 560 N Phelps St. Decatur. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of John or Cathy Goodrich for Myah’s education expenses. Carrie was born on October 30, 1979 in St. Joseph to William “John” & Cathy (Danneffel) Goodrich. She was a graduate of Decatur High School and went on to receive her associates degree in arts from Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Carrie worked at the Watervliet Hospital in patient registration. She enjoyed cheerleading and dance growing up and her daughter Myah followed in her footsteps. Carrie enjoyed attending her daughter’s events and watching the joy it brought her. Carrie is survived by her daughter Myah; parents John & Cathy Goodrich of Decatur; siblings, Kenneth (Amy) Goodrich of Bowling Green, OH, Brian Goodrich of Lawrence, and Sally (Lukas Smith) Goodrich of Paw Paw; grandparents, Charles & Nancy Goodrich and Maynard & Bonnie Hewitt; nieces and nephews, Cami Goodrich, Wesley Goodrich and Julia Provost; former spouse David Shumway and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Pat Goodrich and Wesley Danneffel.
