Phyllis K. Seratt

Phyllis K. Seratt, 82, of Bloomingdale, formally of Dowagiac, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017, at Meadow Wood Nursing & Rehabilitation. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 2 PM at Newell Chapel, 83313 M51, Decatur, officiated by James Abshagen. Burial will follow at Hamilton Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made the Alzheimer’s Association. On January 4, 1959, Phyllis married the love of her life, Walter W. Seratt, in Buchanan. They were happily married for 55 years before his passing on September 16, 2014. For many years, she worked at Bendix as a factory worker. Phyllis is survived by her children, Cheryl (Jim) Grissom of Lawton and Wanda Allen of Dowagiac; 3 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton & Alice; husband, Walter;   a son Walter “Billy” Seratt and a bother Eugene Flanagan.
