Barbara Jean Peterson

Barbara Jean Peterson, 89, of Decatur, passed away, Monday, November 20, 2017, at the Hendrickson House in Decatur. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Barbara was born on December 6, 1927 to James and Mary (Johnson) Johnson in Kokomo, Indiana. On July 19, 1947, she married Lloyd Edward Peterson. Barbara was full of life, she loved a lot of people and a lot of people loved her. She enjoyed camping at Yogi Bear Campground in Plymouth, Indiana and just enjoying life with her good friend Vickie Brudnicki. Barbara loved kids and having them around her. Her special kids and family was the Turner family, she very much thought of them as her own. Barbara is survived by her children Jewel (Tim) Guritz of Decatur and James Lloyd Peterson of Dowagiac; Grandchildren Sam (Stacey) Guritz of Grayling, MI, Brian (Nicole) Guritz of Decatur, Lynn Sheppard of Iron, MI, Angela Masunas of Niles, Amy (Masunas) Heiermann of Niles, Shonda (Matt) Baumgardner of Three Rivers and Jimmy Peterson of Marcellus and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lloyd Edward Peterson and son Kenneth Neal Peterson.
