Douglas's Obituary
Douglas Lowell Spoon, 60, of Decatur Michigan, went to be with the Lord on February 14th surrounded by family. He was a veteran of the US Navy and worked several years as an Aircraft Structures Mechanic at L3 Technologies and Cessna before moving to Michigan.
Doug was born on July 23rd 1957 in Wichita, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Spoon. He is survived by the love of his life Jody Madaras Spoon, his mother and step-father Grace and Kenneth Cotney of Wichita Falls, Texas. Mother in law, Judy Madaras of Decatur. His siblings, Cyndi (Pete) Epperson of Marysville, California. Eric Cotney of Kinney, Texas. Jolleen (Kevin) Hillring of Decatur. Jill (Mike) Street of Decatur. His children Donna Spoon of Vassar, MI, Nychole (Mark) Flowers of Decatur, Michael (Kara) Graham of Decatur, Marissa Graham-Schoetzow of Hartford, Sasha (Brandon Beach) Spoon of Muskegon. Doug also had 6 grandchildren that called him Papa Doug, Brandon Spoon, Nolyn and Rilyn Flowers, Alexa Schoetzow, Khloie and Jaxon Graham.
Every time you spoke to Doug he would ask how you were and tell you how good you looked. When he prayed, it was evident that his faith was strong and he would praise God in every situation. His stories would make you laugh until it hurt and even in his remaining days he was making everyone smile. Doug had a caring heart that was filled with the Lord, the love of his life, Jody, and his 6 grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service for Doug will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Newell Chapel, 83313 M-51, Decatur. Friends may visit with the family beginning at Noon Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
