Fred's Obituary
Fred R. Lindel, 84, of Lawrence, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Wings Home in Allegan, MI.
Fred was born on May 1, 1933, to Oswald and Margaret (Arndt) Lindel in Chicago, IL. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1951. He completed diesel technical service school and was drafted into the US Army as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic. On May 24, 1958, he married Katherine Stanard in Decatur. They raised their family in Lawrence and opened their home to many others over the years.
Fred was a professional mechanic, well known for his ability to fix anything. He was a dedicated John Deere enthusiast and enjoyed reading various antique tractor magazines. Fred wrote to several of them and even had a detailed article published. Throughout his life he enjoyed photography, farming and most of all, raising garlic.
Fred is survived by his children, Colin (Brenda) Lindel, Jason Lindel and Dannielle Brown; grandchildren, Britny and Raven Brown; brother, Carl (Bonnie) Lindel and brother-in-law, Richard Stanard; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oswald and Margaret; wife, Katherine and sisters, Cathy Irwin and Evelyn Thomas.
Friends may meet with the family on Saturday, March 3rd for a Celebration of Fred’s Life from 1-3 pm with a time of sharing at 1:30 PM at Newell Chapel, 83313 M-51, Decatur, MI. Per Fred’s request, cremation has taken place.
