Dorothy Lucille Schott

Dorothy Lucille Schott, 96, formerly of Decatur, MI passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Meadow Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bloomingdale, MI. A graveside service will take place Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 11:30 AM at Harrison Cemetery in Decatur with Pastor Mike Heflin officiating. A Celebration of Life Gathering and meal will take place immediately following services at the cemetery at the First Church of God, 708 S. Dorothy was born on April 24, 1922 in Decatur to Wendall & Nina (McCumber) Miller. Dorothy had a special ear for music, she enjoyed playing the piano, and the organ in her free time. She also had a strong passion in caring for the elderly and special needs patients.  Dorothy worked in the healthcare field as a caregiver in Decatur for several years. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, JoAnne (Myron) Van Pelt of Auburn, FL, and Jeanne Papke of Paw Paw, MI; son Charles Schott, Jr. of Decatur, MI; grandchildren, Lori Van Pelt-Kelly, Melissa Powell, Carol Clarke, DeAnne (Nicki) Teague, Lynn (Ricky) Teague, 8 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and sister Mildred Majdan of Kalamazoo, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wendall and Nina, grandchildren, Bruce Clarke, Deborah Clarke, and Jeff Van Pelt; and son-in-law, Joseph Papke. Her absence will be felt by her family, friends, and the many people whose life she touched.
