Terry's Obituary

Terry L. Michael, 67, of Berrien Springs, MI passed away Monday, June 22, 2015 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, June 29, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 9123 George Ave. Berrien Springs with Pastor Douglas Adams officiating.  Burial will immediately follow the service at Rose Hill Cemetery in Berrien Springs.  Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at the church from 3:00 until 5:00 PM. Terry was born July 26, 1947 in Benton Harbor, MI to Gordon & Emma (Lehmann) Michael. He was a graduate of Berrien Springs High School in 1965. Terry proudly served his country in the United States Army from September 14, 1966 until he was honorably discharged September 13, 1968. During his time with the military he appeared as an extra in the movie The Green Berets. On March 23, 1974 he wed Patricia “Pat” Sadlon in Berrien Springs.  Before entering the service he worked at Clark Equipment Company in Benton Harbor.  After the service he worked in security for Meijers and D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant retiring after 19 years. Terry was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Soup Kitchen most recently serving as an elder. He was known as the “Cheese King” while working at the Friends of Berrien Springs corn dog booth at the fair every year. Terry was an avid sports fan and supporter of the University of Michigan. He spent hours studying history often traveling to historical sites and landmarks. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing but his happiest moments were spending time with his family – especially with his grandson Spencer. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Pat of Berrien Springs; his son Jason (Mara) Michael of Indian Trial, NC; grandson Spencer Michael; brother Larry (Judy) Michael of Manistique, MI and niece Susan.  He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Jerry.
