Junior's Obituary

Junior D. Cook, 86, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018, at Wings of Hope Hospice in Allegan. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at 1PM at Lakeside Cemetery in Decatur.Memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice. Those wishing to leave a condolence online may do so at www.newellchapel.com. Junior was born on April 1, 1932, to Ben & Kathryn (Goodrich) Cook in Decatur. He attended Decatur High School before he enlisted in the United States Army in 1949. He proudly served his country for three years before he was honorably discharged in 1952. On October 1, 1982, Junior married Judy Anderson in Arizona. Junior worked as a Mechanic for the state of Arizona for 27 years before his retirement. Junior was a caring man and always willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and bowling. Junior was a proud member of the VFW post #6248 in Decatur. Junior is survived by his siblings, Kathryn Flowers of Decatur, Jack (Adelia) Cook of Marcellus and Wesley Cook of Kalamazoo; children, Richard Cook, Ben Cook, Robert Cook, Kathleen Lombardi, Lorrie Sorrells, Dev Mellema & Darylee Mellema; many grandchildren & great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews. Junior was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Cook; siblings, Shirley Lillie and William Cook; first wife Eunice Hopeman; brother-in-laws, Burdell Flowers and Junior Lillie; sister-in-law Helen Cook; son-in-law Peter Sorrells; and granddaughter Clorenda Yeager.
