Lois Stevens, 87, of St. Joseph passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Lakeland Continuing Care Center in Berrien Center. A private burial will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lakeland Specialty Hospital Activities Department in Berrien Center. Those wishing to share a memory of Lois online may do so at www.heritagechapel.com. Services entrusted to Heritage Chapel & Cremation Services of Berrien Springs.Lois was born June 5, 1925 in Bethpage, TN to Thomas & Bessie (Trout) Bell. Lois was married to Clement John Stevens Jr. (C.J.) for 39 years, who proceeded in death in 1986. Lois was a wonderful wife, mother and full time homemaker who kept a busy schedule caring for her family. She loved to entertain friends and family and loved to cook and bake. While raising her family she loved to bake cookies, cakes, and sweets and was very popular among the many neighborhood kids who regularly came by for her sample her baked goods. She enjoyed hosting and attending pot lucks with her friends.For over 20 years Lois worked part-time as the “demo lady” and various grocery stores in Berrien County including Rogers Vineland Food, Hardings Market, Hilltop Foods, Apple Valley Market and others. She truly enjoyed her job as the demo lady, handing out food samples and socializing with customers was her passion. Lois enjoyed living at Lakeview Terrance on the St. Joe river for many years. She loved to watch the boats coming in and out and loved her view of the St. Joseph lighthouse. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.The family would to extend its many thanks to the hard work and loving care she received while she was a patient at the Lakeland Specialty Hospital in Berrien Center, MI. Lois is survived by her sons Mark (Theresa) Stevens of Lansing, MI and David Scott Stevens of Coloma, MI; two grandchildren Cameron and Celina Stevens of Lansing, MI; sister Ruth LaMore of Niles, MI; brother Tom (Joan) Bell of Benton Harbor, MI. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband C.J. Stevens, brothers Bill and Floyd Bell and sisters Ann Adams and Pauline Baxter.
