Garnette A. Oles

Garnette A. (Swift) Oles, 68, of Berrien Springs, passed away, Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph. Celebration of Life Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Heritage Chapel, 8747 US 31, Berrien Springs. Cremation will follow the services. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Garnette was born January 27, 1945 in London, Ontario, Canada. She graduated from Lakeshore High School in 1963 and received her Registered Nursing accreditation from South Bend Memorial Hospital. On August 13, 1966, she married Joseph Oles in St. Joseph. Garnette devoted her life to nursing, serving patients at Memorial Hospital in St. Joseph, Bry Fern-Cambridge Court Nursing Home in Berrien Center, and most recently at Jordan’s Life Care Center in Bridgman, until her health no longer permitted. She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Notre Dame Fan, enjoyed flower gardening, bowling, reading, going to garage sales, and spending time with her family & friends, especially her grandchildren. Garnette is survived by her husband Joseph; two daughters-Beth A. (Joseph) Krumroy of Cassopolis, MI, Amy J. Oles of Berrien Springs; her granddaughter Heather Krumroy of Cassopolis; two great-grandchildren-David & Aiden Purcell of Cassopolis; her brother Richard W. (Darina) Swift of Kalamazoo; three sisters-in-law-Virginia (Edward Banish of Berrien Springs, Anne (Drayton) Fults of Houston, TX, Linda Oles of Eau Claire, MI; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her father William B. Swift, mother & step-father Elizabeth (Ott) & Manny Nernberg and nephew Richard W. Swift Jr.
