Edith's Obituary
Edith I. Oles, 85, of Berrien Springs, MI passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 5:00 P.M. Friday, August 22, 2014 at Heritage Chapel, 8747 US 31 Berrien Springs with Pastor Don Dronen officiating. Friends may visit from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled Veterans of America Foundation. Edith was born April 7, 1929 in Midland, MI to Roy & Mildred (Morris) Thompson. She was a graduate of Adelphian Academy School in Holly, MI. She went on to receive her Master’s degree in Education from Andrews University. On July 17, 1968 she wed Sylvester Oles. Edith was an elementary school teacher in the Galien and Dowagiac School Districts for many years before retiring. She was a member of Pioneer Memorial SDA Church in Berrien Springs. Edith enjoyed writing poetry and even wrote a children’s book. She loved giving things to people and was very kind and generous. Edith will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons David Shultz of Berrien Springs, Dan (Michelle) Shultz of Rockford, MI; daughter Lori (Drex) Little of Wolfforth, TX; grandchildren Heather (Garret), Kali (Ryan), Jeff (Yesi), Lindsay (Gordy), Jon, Jacob, Lucas and Benjamin; six great grandchildren and one on the way. Sisters Ruby Soresen of Springfield, TN and Gladys (Frank) Vessels of Loma Linda, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 45 years on March 13, 2014, son Steven Shultz in 2002, sisters Erma Huffaker and Thelma Drake and brother Ray Thompson.
