Thelma R. Haase (April 15th 1934-October 17th 2014) South Bend Indiana, formerly of Berrien Springs Michigan. Thelma Rae Haase, 80, passed away on October 17, 2014. She was born April 15, 1934 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the daughter of Cecil G. and Mabel (Slankard) Cartwright. The family moved from Oklahoma City to Billings, Oklahoma where the family lived until she graduated high school in 1952. From there, she joined the Navy Waves where she met her husband, William C. Haase Jr. at the Philadelphia Naval Air Base. They were married Aug. 24, 1953. She worked several jobs in the Twin Cities area including the Credit Bureau in Benton Harbor, and she is most recently retired from the Electrical Workers Union Local 153 where she worked as an office secretary for six years. She leaves behind her son William C. Haase III, her daughter-in-law, Connie Haase, her three grandchildren, Shane, who resides in Coloma, Nathan, who lives currently in Noble, Illinois and Grace, from Berrien Springs, five great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, along with various nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, her parents and her sister, Eddie Lou Lott. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M.  Monday, October 20, 2014 at Heritage Chapel & Cremation Services, 8747 US 31 Berrien Springs. A private burial will be held at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma.  Friends may visit from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Sunday, October 19, 2014 at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
