Virginia D. Peek

Virginia D. Peek, 79, of Berrien Springs, passed away, Saturday, May 30, 2015 at her daughter’s home in Bridgman. Celebration of Life Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Heritage Chapel, 8747 US 31, Berrien Springs, with Rev. Richard Kiser officiating.  Burial will follow at Spring Run Cemetery in Scottdale.  Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Virginia was born March 1, 1936 in Friendship, Tennessee to Joseph & Vera (Matthew) Stark.  On March 18, 1968, she married Thomas Peek in St. Joseph.  Virginia was employed by Potlatch in St. Joseph for eleven years before gaining employment with General Motors Corp. from where she retired in 2003 after twenty-two years.  She attended Twelve Corners General Baptist Church in Benton Harbor and in her free time enjoyed tending to her flower & vegetable gardens, southern style cooking and traveling. Virginia was a friend to all and a great life lesson teacher to her family and many friends. Virginia is survived by her husband Thomas J. Peek; her three daughters-Sandra Ann Smith of Sodus, Brenda Stacey of Marquette, MI, Kathy (Jim) Martin of Bridgman; step children-Roger Peek & Linda Cook of North Dakota; four grandchildren-Courtney, Benjamin & Gabriel Hafer, & Meagan Martin; three great-grandchildren-Chandler Hafer, Nadia & Constantine Martin; six step grandchildren; nineteen step great-grandchildren; one step great-great-grandchild; two sisters-Rachel Thorn of Dorr, MI, Sue Stark Turner of Benton Harbor; and many nieces & nephews.  She was preceded in death by her brother Joe Carlton Stark in 1978.
