Elaine Juanita Rick

Elaine Juanita “Susie” Wetzel Rick, 92, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 in St. Joseph.  A memorial service will be held Monday, December 21, 2015 at 12:00 noon at Heritage Chapel, 8747 US 31, Berrien Springs with Pastor Dave Gotshall officiating.  Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon before the service. Memorial donations may be made in Elaine’s name to the Baroda Bible Church or a mission of donor’s choice.  Friends wishing to leave a condolence for the family may do so at www.heritage-chapel.com.  Elaine was born in Baroda, November 26, 1923 to Lloyd and Hazel (Johnson) Wetzel.  On February 28, 1942 she married her loving husband Walter Rick in Baroda.  Together they enjoyed 61 years of marriage before his passing in 2003.  Elaine proudly worked alongside her husband on the family farm, devoting herself to being a wife and mother to her family.  In her spare time, she loved playing piano and organ and painting outdoor scenes and landscapes.  She especially enjoyed singing and directing the choir at the Baroda Bible Church. Elaine is survived by her sons David (Judy) Rick of Berrien Springs and Larry (Bonnie) Rick of Ocala, Florida; grandchildren Eric Rick, Jessica Rick, Elizabeth (Rhys) Hunt, Kate Rick, Dalton Rick, Chad Rick, Matt (Darshna Dhake) Rick, Kim (Andy) Baber, Rockie (Allison) Rick, Joshua (Nicole) Rick and Jessica (Jason) McNally;  great-grandchildren Alex Rick, Sophia Rick, Isaac Rick and Dylan Rick; special niece Bonnie Hartline; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter and son James Rick in 1955.
