Esther Cooper

Esther Cooper, 92, of Berrien Springs, MI passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016 at her son’s home in Berrien Springs where she was also born and married. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 9123 George Ave., with Rev. Doug Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Run Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.  Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Heritage Chapel, 8747 US 31, Berrien Springs, MI.   Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Berrien Springs or Hospice at Home. Those wishing to share a memory of Esther online may do so at www.heritage-chapel.com Esther was born October 14, 1923 in Berrien Springs, MI to Peter & Margaret (Reitz) Koehler. On April 1, 1950 she married Glenn “Gene” Cooper in Berrien Springs, MI. Esther grew up working on the family farm which she took over from her parents and is now managed by her son. She was a member of the American Historical Society Germans from Russia Club in St. Joseph as well as the Widow Widowers Club and Friendship Club. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, baking as well as making jams. Esther is survived by her son Allyn (Julie) Cooper of Berrien Springs; granddaughter Nicole (Ryan) Kuipers of KY; three brothers Paul Koehler, Daniel (Sharon) Koehler and Edward (Marcia) Koehler. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Elizabeth Cukrowicz, and brothers David, Robert, and Peter Koehler.
