Allen Roscoe Johns

Allen R. Johns, 82, of Eau Claire, passed away on May 24, 2016 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 27, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 9123 George Ave., Berrien Springs, with Pastor Douglas Adams officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Lincoln Township Cemetery in Stevensville.  Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the church.  Memorial donations may be made in Allen’s name to the Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice at Home.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Heritage Chapel in Berrien Springs.  Those wishing to share a memory of Allen may do so online at www.heritage-chapel.com. Allen was born in Benton Harbor, MI on March 19, 1934 to Roscoe and Thelma (Hendrix) Johns. He graduated from Stevensville High School as one of their top athletes. Allen’s love for sports continued throughout his life and was shown by his support of many Michigan teams.  Allen was a successful businessman starting the Sand Bar Restaurant in St. Joseph and a sporting goods store in Bridgman.  He retired from Todco Corporation after 23 years of service in their sales division.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and watching birds.  Allen was an elder at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Berrien Springs. He had a strong belief in God and lived his faith every day.  Allen was a devoted patriarch to his family who he adored.          Allen is survived by his wife, Karen (Surma) Johns; daughters, Donna White of Stevensville, Sue (Joe) Rambo of Bridgman, and Jessica (Karl) Kramer of Fort Wayne, IN; sons Kris Aldrich of Chicago, IL, Paul (Traci) Harvey of Belmont, MI, and Sean (Dawn) Harvey of Buchanan; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Gene) Cooper of Grand Haven, MI; and brother, William (Fran) Johns of Cloverport, TN. Allen was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Geri Herman and Bonnie Rambo
