Orville Charles Beal

Orville Charles Beal, 77, of Berrien Springs, MI, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, MI. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2 P.M. Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the Stevensville Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 6657 Stevensville-Baroda Rd., Stevensville, MI with Pastor Larry Colburn and Pastor David Gotshall officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M., at the church before the service. Memorials may be made to the Historical Adventist Village, 411 Champion St., Battle Creek, MI. Those wishing to share a memory of Orville online may do so at www.heritage-chapel.com Orville was born August 20, 1939, to John and Oliva (Burnett) Beal in Petoskey, MI. He married the love of his life, Carol Louise Jones, in Lansing, MI on August 2, 1959.  Orville attained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy working in the field for over 15 years.  He then pursued missionary work with his wife, Carol, traveling to over 34 countries. They spent most of their time in Rwanda from 1987 to 1994 before settling in Berrien Springs.  In his spare time, Orville enjoyed woodworking, canoeing, camping and growing vegetables, especially his yellow Hungarian “hot” peppers.  He loved potatoes in any form, wearing his special hat and playing “The Holy City” on his trumpet. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his beloved family. Orville is survived by his wife of 57 years – Carol of Berrien Springs, MI; children Linda (Theodore) Vallejos of Knoxville, TN, Shawna (Ronald) Vyhmeister of Beirut, Lebanon, and John (Marsha) Beal of Berrien Center; grandchildren Alexander (Joy) Vyhmeister of Riverside, CA, Erik Vyhmeister of Berrien Springs, MI and Karyl Beal of Berrien Center, MI; 100 years young mother-in-law Marjorie Jones of Berrien Springs, MI; and many nieces and nephews. Orville was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marilyn (Beal) Coy.
