Flora Alcyone Koetsier

Flora “Grandma” Koetsier, 86, of Berrien Springs, passed away, December 5, 2016 at her residence – Jenny’s Place. No service or visitation is planned. Flora was born July 8, 1930 in Indiana. She attended Michigan State University receiving her degree in education, and taught home economics for many years.  Flora served as a teacher-advisor for the Future Homemaker Club at Lake Michigan College, assisting with planning events.  She privately owned and donated a quilt for exhibit at the Michigan State University Museum.  Flora represented the Beechwood House at the 3rd Annual Sr. Prom for the Lakeland Specialty Hospital in April, 2012.  Through Neighbor to Neighbor, Flora enjoyed volunteering her time in the community to people in all walks of life.  She loved shopping, trips to the mall, and spending time with her cherished friends at Roma’s and McDonald’s.  Flora is survived by her good friend and longtime caregiver, Marcus Hartlein of Niles. She was preceded in death by her parents.
