Darwin's Obituary

Darwin A. Dilley, 85, of Berrien Springs, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Hanson Hospice in Stevensville. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heritage Chapel in Berrien Springs, 269-471-2700. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 9123 George St., Berrien Springs, MI with Pastor Douglas Adams officiating. Friends may visit with the family before the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church.  Burial will immediately follow the service at Rose Hill Cemetery in Berrien Springs.  Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church.  Those wishing to share a memory of Darwin online may do so at www.heritage-chapel.com. Darwin was born in Berrien Springs on March 16, 1931 to Morrison and Ethel (Sherwood) Dilley. He graduated from Berrien Springs High School.  Darwin married Ruth (Heimbuch) Dilley on July 30, 1951 at the Lutheran Parsonage in Berrien Springs.  He retired after many years as a self-employed painter.  He was a proud member of the Sons of American Legion Post #85 in Berrien Springs for most of his life.  Darwin’s favorite pastime was fishing for pike and walleye in the St. Joseph River, using his own hand-crafted bait. Darwin is survived by his wife, Ruth; sons, Blake Dilley of St. Joseph, Dennis (Lorraine) of Spooner, WI, and Gregg Dilley of Berrien Springs; grandsons, Tim Dilley of Spooner, WI and Rusty (Kyra) Dilley of Eau Claire, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marilyn Jarvis; and one brother, Morris Dilley.
