Scott was born September 26, 1953 in Niles, Michigan to Glenn & Bettie Jack (Barrett) Prillwitz. Scott enjoyed the great outdoors, hunting, fishing, kayaking, hiking, and of course, each and every one of the moments he had with his daughters. Scott grew up outside of Berrien Center working with his parents and three brothers on their family fruit and vegetable farm. Scott was a 1972 graduate of Berrien Springs High School, where he was quarter back of the football team, and earned an Associate’s Degree from Asheville Buncombe Technical Institute in Asheville, North Carolina. Scott was employed as a transportation specialist with Federal Express in South Bend, for over three decades. He was an avid University of Michigan fan, and a lifelong hater of any team fielded by Notre Dame. Scott is remembered by many friends, co-workers, and relatives for his quick, entertaining wit, and always had a joke to share with whomever he met. He enjoyed the weekly crossword found in the Sunday paper and knowing more answers than the contestants on Jeopardy.
Scott is survived by his twin daughters, Rachel Prillwitz & Sarah (Daniel) Szucs, both of South Bend; their mother, Karen Haun, of South Bend; two brothers-Bruce B. (Carol Ann) Prillwitz of Rochester, MI, Ladd D. Prillwitz of Berrien Center, MI and his late brother Todd’s wife, Kelly Prillwitz, Niles, MI; nieces & nephews-Autumn (Jeff) Prillwitz Penney of Chicago, IL, Ellen (Michael) Malone of Berrien Springs, Aaron (Nicole) Prillwitz of Northville, MI, Aric Prillwitz of Royal Oak, MI; great nieces & nephews-Jack & Elizabeth Penney, Keira, Maxwell & Emily Prillwitz, Elijah Malone; his aunt Georgia Prillwitz of Mackinaw City, MI; and cousins-Anne (Doug) DeHaan of Dexter, MI, Laura Jones of South Bend, IN & George Prillwitz of New Buffalo, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father a well-known and respected farmer in Berrien Center, his mother having taught at Berrien Springs Schools for over 32 years, his brother, Todd A. Prillwitz, and his uncle, Roy Prillwitz. Scott’s ashes are to be interred in Union Cemetery, Berrien Center.
