Wauneta's Obituary

Wauneta Mae (Wells) Gusky passed away late Sunday night July 2, 2017. She was born in St. Marys Ohio, where she and her brother, James, lived with their parents, Lester and Vivian (Kaser) Wells. Wauneta spent most of her adult life living with her husband, John E. Gusky, in White Oak, PA, where they raised their 4 children. She worked as a technical typist for Westinghouse and as a laboratory technician for Forbes Regional Medical Center. Wauneta enjoyed gardening, family life and was highly involved in her church. In 2014, following the death of her husband, Wauneta relocated to Berrien Center to live with her son and his family. They cared for Wauneta until she succumbed to dementia. Wauneta is survived by her four children: Elliott Gusky, Naomi (Brett) Waters, Jeannine Labarge, and E. Jonathan (Stacy) Gusky; three grandchildren, Zachary Barber, Michael Gusky and Samuel Gusky. A memorial service will be held on July 22, 2017, at Village SDA Church at 4:00 PM. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Niles YMCA Capital Campaign Fund. The YMCA played an important role in Wauneta’s treatment and helped to prolong her life. The Capital Campaign Fund is for building and expanding the YMCA.
