John Williams Grooten

John Grooten, better known to the community as Mr. Small Engine passed away April 1, 2018, following a brief illness. For more than 4 decades John ran his small engine repair shop on the corner of Deans Hill and Pokagon. He loved his customers and their stories; he told a few of his own as well. John’s wife, Kay Grooten “Buddy”, passed away last January and he has missed her greatly. They raised 5 children here in Berrien Springs and loved this town. He loved his Cigars, going to the Casino, driving a golf cart at the fair with his wife, and more than anything his grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
