Marjorie K. “Maggie” Ambs, 73, of Berrien Springs, passed away at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville surrounded by her loving family on Friday, October 12, 2018. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Heritage Chapel, 8747 US 31, Berrien Springs with Pastor Kevin Parkins officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, October 17, from 4:00PM until 8:00PM. Private burial will take place at a later date at Rose Hill Cemetery in Berrien Springs. Those who wish to leave an online condolence for Maggie may do so at www.heritage-chapel.com. Maggie was born on February 4, 1945 to Alden and Maude “Maudie” (Zeitz) McManus in Eaton Rapids, MI. She graduated from Eaton Rapids High School in 1963. Maggie grew up on a farm where her love for animals was shown raising lambs and cows. On January 6, 1968 she married the love of her life, Martin “Marty” Ambs in Eaton Rapids. Maggie worked for Berrien Springs Schools as a secretary for over 32 years before retirement. During the High School football games, she was known for ringing the cow bell and carried on the tradition for 35 years. Maggie loved visiting Shipshewana and craft shopping. She enjoyed baking and making jams. She was very social and knew no stranger, she always knew how to laugh and have a good time. Most of all she loved her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.  Maggie is survived by her children Timothy “Tim” (Tammy) Ambs of Niles and Michelle Smith of Buchanan; mother Maudie McManus; grandson Matthew (Sofia Ramirez) Smith; step-grandsons Cameron and Mason McCray; brother Jerry (Peggy) McManus; nieces Amy (Rob) Yoder and Heather (Jeff) Vick; nephew Craig (Cathy) McManus; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; beloved dog Abigail and many close friends.   She was preceded by her father Alden McManus and husband Marty Ambs.
