Donna Eleanor Ranzinger

Donna Eleanor Ranzinger, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2019 in Berrien Springs, MI.  She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Oscar Ranzinger and their children; Corinne Van Arsdale, Mark Ranzinger, Yvonne Ranzinger, Melonee Patterson & Rachelle Hartkopf; Grandchildren, Brent & Trevor Jones, Andrew, Abri and Elliott (deceased) Ranzinger, Aidan & Kiera Patterson and Alena Hartkopf; Sister Christine Cassidy; brothers, George Kuzma and Jan Kuzma (deceased). She was born in Brodnica, Poland on July 20, 1932 to Elizabeth (Gartz) & William Kuzma. She immigrated to the US through a sponsor family in Texas and then the family relocated to Detroit for its large Polish community. She met Oscar at a church social event and they were married Jan. 1, 1958 in Detroit, MI. She is remembered for her love of life, family, friends and cooking. Her Polish and German potluck gatherings are a thing of legend in the Detroit and Waterford SDA church communities, where she was a faithful member for many years. She stayed busy raising five children, learned Spanish and also traveled later in life visiting with family and friends all over the US and Europe. They retired to North Carolina where they lived for 14 years before moving back to Michigan because of her declining health. Due to her Alzheimer’s, she had been in an assisted living facility for the last four years. We look forward to the day when we will meet again in heaven. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association. Her memorial service will be on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 10:30 am at the Village SDA Church, 635 St. Joseph Ave., Berrien Springs, MI, 49103.
